Los Angeles Vacation

Los Angeles, or the City of Angels as it's known, seems very familiar to visitors even before they get there. It is the setting for so many movies and television shows. Basking in the Californian sunshine, it's the home of numerous celebrities, and is the hub of the movie and TV industry. There are the affluent districts and the more bohemian ones. A Los Angeles vacation has something for everyone. You can stay at one of the hotel chains, such as Comfort Inns, Best Western or Holiday Inns.

LA is easy to fly to, with five major airports receiving flights. The public transport available doesn't have a good reputation and the advice is to rent a car for a Los Angeles vacation. There is world class dining, which reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the city. Mexican and Asian cuisine is particularly well catered for. Shopaholics will be satisfied too and may want to venture into the famous stores in Beverley Hills. There are famous names like Tiffany's, Saks and Prada. Art lovers will appreciate the large collection at the J.Paul Getty Museum. It sits on top of the Santa Monica Mountains and the view from the city is reason enough to visit. If you want an historic perspective on the city, the old El Pueblo district is the place to go. There are a wide variety of Mexican restaurants and shops.

Stargazers will enjoy the planetarium at the Griffith Observatory. Other stars can be observed in Hollywood if you're lucky! Once a little village, it has all the major studios in the world. The famous Hollywood sign in the hills still stands proud. The most popular studio visit is to the Universal City Studios, where you can ride a tram round the backlot. Sets for movies such as Jurassic Park and Back to the Future are on the tour. There are also restaurants, shops and an IMAX Theatre. A Los Angeles vacation would not be the same without a visit to Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. The famous sidewalk outside bears the imprints of movie stars from every era. The Hollywood Walk of Fame has stars on the sidewalk in the name of celebrities and movies etc.

There are other worthwhile places to visit that are close to the city, when you take a Los Angeles vacation. You can stroll on the pier or chill on the beach at Santa Monica and there is an impressive ferris wheel there. Nearby Venice Beach is an atmospheric area. It's good to explore it by hiring a bike or a pair of skates.
